When I was researching Jack the Ripper I came across a very interesting article about Ian Porter who is a Jack the Ripper specialist. The article consists of him annoucing that he will be giving a speech about his new novel which is based on Jack the Ripper and in gives an insight to the era. Ian Porter has written Whitechapel which I will read, reviews from people have said that it is a very well researched book.
This is a review on http://forum.casebook.org/showthread.php?t=3159. The review is by a fan who has read the book and it is also posted on the Jack the Ripper casebook forum. "I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, set in Whitechapel at the time of the Ripper murders. Although I do not profess to be an expert on the Ripper cases, or indeed that period of history, the novel came across as being very well researched. "
The article was published on this website http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news/4844288.MEOPHAM__Jack_the_Ripper_murders_talk_at_library/
Debut novelist Ian Porter, from Tunbridge Wells, will be talking about his book Whitechapel at Meopham Library in Wrotham Road at 1.30pm on Friday (January 22).
The novel explores whether the murders in 1888 did more to bring about social change in the East End of London than any philanthropist or politician.
Library customer service officer Becky Waghorn said: “It will be an exciting insight into how Ian Porter came to write the novel and the times of Jack the Ripper.” "
